Energy saving in a quality food chain for global supply.
Author(s) : MAGNUSSEN O. M.
Summary
Need for transportation of food, energy consumption for food processing and for food storage, have increased. Main features of these trends can not be changed without a loss in the quality of food and distribution. Savings can be achieved in several fields. Measurements have shown that substantial energy savings are possible even with lower storage temperatures. Most important is choice and use of freezers, storage and compressors. Besides considerable amount of energy can be recovered from the refrigeration system and used for heating purposes at very low energy cost.
