Enhanced film condensation heat transfer of methane vapour.

Summary

An experimental apparatus is built to observe performance of laminar film condensation of methane vapour. The experiment is carried out using V-longitudinal grooved tubes. The condensation heat transfer coefficient of V-longitudinal groove tube is 3-8 times larger than that obtained with the smooth surface. In order to explain the heat transfer enhancement of the condensing surface, a mathematical model is proposed for studying condensation characteristics along V-longitudinal grooved tubes; the maximum deviation between the predicted values and the experimental data is 15%.
