Summary
The most effective way to develop a high-performance absorption chiller-heater utilizing lithium bromide aqueous solution as a working fluid, is to improve the performance of the absorber with the largest heat transfer area of the four heat exchangers. The paper introduces two kinds of double-fluted tubes for the absorber of the absorption chiller-heater. Arm tubes and floral tubes have about 40% higher heat transfer performances than the plain tube conventionally used in absorbers. The former is manufactured by the double drawbench process, while the latter by the single drawbench process. Therefore, floral tube is expected to realize both high heat transfer performance and low cost.
