Equation orientated modelling of air-conditioning systems: application to R134a and CO2 air-conditioning systems for buses.

Summary

The paper presents a formalism to generate systems of algebraic or differential algebraic equations in order to simulate the steady state or transient behaviour of air conditioning systems, based on the so called information flow of fluids. The presented method is applied to a conventional R134a and a supercritical CO2 air conditioning system coupled with an unsteady model of the passenger compartment of a bus. The simulation results of the CO2 system are compared to measurements with respect to varying ambient air temperatures.
