Summary

Thinning of plums fruitlets cvs "Dabrowicka Prune" and "Stanley" 6 weeks after full bloom caused a significant increase in their final fruit size. However, it did not have any effect on their firmness, the soluble solids content at harvest or their storage potential in a cold store at -0.5°C. Placing harvested plums cv. "Dabrowicka Prune" in tightly closed jars at room temperature caused a fast rise in CO2 concentration in the atmosphere around the fruits and in consequence decreased their ethylene production ability.
