Summary
A computer program is described which calculates the thermodynamic properties of refrigerants. Since different forms of the basic state equations of the fluids are used, a comparison was carried out for R22. Simple real gas state equations, such as that of Redlich, Kwong and Soave, or of Carnahan, Starling and de Santis, give rise to a maximum deviation of about 1.5% with respect to the compressibility factor, as compared to the Martin Hou equation, whereas the deviations were smaller for the saturation pressure and larger for the ideal gas thermal capacity. As an example, some comparisons between the operational characteristics of a reference refrigeration cycle were carried out for R12, R134a and R152a. E.F.
