Evaporation and diffusion of ammonia in hydrogen inside a vertical open tube induced by the buoyancy effects of thermal and mass diffusion.

Summary

The paper investigates the natural convection flow, heat and mass transfer resulting from the combined effects of thermal and mass diffusion occurring in a vertical open tube with its inside surface covered by a thin liquid ammonia film, immersed in an ambient atmosphere of a gaseous mixture of ammonia hydrogen. One attempts to simulate the conditions of evaporation and diffusion of ammonia in the evaporator of the triple-fluid absorption refrigeration systems, in which no mechanical work input is necessary, and the fluid circulation is maintained because of density variations due to temperature and concentration differences.
