EVAPORATOR HEAT TRANSFER IN PLATEN-MUNTERS ABSORPTION UNITS.

Author(s) : ALMEN C. G.

Summary

IN PLATEN-MUNTERS ABSORPTION REFRIGERATING UNITS (NH3, H2 O, H2 ) AMMONIA EVAPORATES BY DIFFUSION IN A HYDROGEN FLOW WITH A SMALL HEAT TRANSFER COMPARED TO THAT OF CONVENTIONAL EVAPORATORS. THE AUTHOR PRESENTS CALCULATED VALUES FROM TEST DATA ON FORCED/FREE CONVECTION HEAT TRANSFER TO WATER IN LAMINAR FLOW. THE APPARENT EVAPORATION COEFFICIENT OF NH3 INCREASES FROM ABOUT 90 W/M2.K AT 243 K (-30 DEG C) TO 300 W/M2.K AT 273 K (0 DEG C) IN A TYPICALLY PLATEN-MUNTERS APPLICATION.
