Type of article: Article

Summary

PRESENTS A DETAILED THERMODYNAMIC ANALYSIS OF ABSORPTION HEAT PUMPS AND HEAT TRANSFORMERS. APPLIES FIRST AND SECOND LAW THERMODYNAMIC METHODS TO CALCULATE THE COP AND THE ENERGY EFFICIENCY FOR THE SYSTEMS AS WELL AS THE INDIVIDUAL COMPONENTS. USES WATER-LITHIUM BROMIDE AS AN EXAMPLE AND CONSTRUCTS 2, THREE-DIMENSIONAL T-S-X DIAGRAMS. CONCLUDES THAT THE ABSORPTION HEAT PUMP HAS BETTER THERMODYNAMIC PERFORMANCE FOR HEATING THAN FOR COOLING AND AS HEAT TRANSFORMERS. (INT. BUILD. SERV. ABSTR., GB., 23, N 3, 1988, 7, 88-00725.
