Author(s) : STOECKER W. F.

Type of article: Article, IJR article

Summary

AMMONIA HAS FAVOURABLE PROPERTIES, BUT ITS MAJOR DRAWBACK IS THAT IT IS TOXIC AT LOW CONCENTRATIONS. IN THE ARTICLE, DATA ARE GIVEN ON SOME USES IN WATER COOLERS AND THERMAL-STORAGE PLANTS. AMMONIA CONCENTRATIONS ARE PRESENTED FOR DIFFERENT EMISSION RATES, AS A FUNCTION OF DISTANCE AND SPEED OF THE WIND, DETERMINED BY A PROGRAM. THERE ARE SOME IMPORTANT LIMITATIONS TO THIS PROGRAM, AND THE RESULTS CANNOT BE CONSIDERED AS SAFE IN ALL SITUATIONS.
