Summary

THE AUTHORS ARGUE FOR A GREATER CONSIDERATION OF AMMONIA AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO CFCS FOR MANY FOOD INDUSTRY AND AIR-CONDITIONING APPLICATIONS. THE MANY ADVANTAGES INCLUDE LOW COST, HIGH EFFICIENCY, IMPROVED HEAT TRANSFER, NO OZONE DEPLETION OR GLOBAL WARMING EFFECTS. THE ONLY REAL DRAWBACK TO AMMONIA IS ITS TOXICITY AND THIS IS OUTWEIGHED CONSIDERABLY BY ITS PUNGENT ODOUR IN QUANTITIES WELL BELOW DANGEROUS EXPOSURE LIMITS. D.W.H.
