Summary

TRIALS ARE CARRIED OUT FOR DIFFERENT ROOM TEMPERATURES (-20 TO 5 DEG C). THE REAL OPERATING CONDITIONS ARE SIMULATED BY OPENING THE DOOR AT REGULAR TIME INTERVALS. THE EFFECTIVENESS OF REVERSE-CYCLE DEFROSTING IS HIGHER THAN THAT OF ELECTRICAL HEATING, THE LATTER PROCESS LEADING TO A HIGHER DAILY ELECTRIC CONSUMPTION ANDCONSEQUENTLY TO AN INCREASE IN ROOM TEMPERATURE. THE EVOLUTION OF THE TEMPERATURE OF STORED FOODS, SIMULATED BY TYLOSE, IS STUDIED.
