EXPERIMENTAL DETERMINATION OF HEAT EXCHANGE BETWEEN SATURATED AND SUBCOOLED SUPERFLUID HELIUM.

Summary

THE STUDY WAS CARRIED OUT USING A GLASS CRYOSTAT WITH A SPECIAL INSERT THAT UTILIZES THE MODIFIED CLAUDET CYCLE TO PRODUCE SUBCOOLED SUPERFLUID HELIUM. THE PAPER FOCUSES ON THE HEAT EXCHANGER THAT IS MADE INTHE FORM OF A CYLINDRICAL STAINLESS STEEL BODY WITH SATURATED HELIUM II INSIDE AND SUBCOOLED HELIUM II OUTSIDE. THE AUTHORS MEASURED HELIUM TEMPERATURE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE HEAT EXCHANGER, THE LEVEL OF SATURATED SUPERFLUID HELIUM AND THE FLOW RATE OF EVAPORATED GASEOUS HELIUM. THE PROCESSING OF THE OBTAINED DATA RESULTED IN DETERMINING THE COEFFICIENT OF HEAT EXCHANGE BETWEEN SATURATED AND SUBCOOLED SUPERFLUID HELIUM. THE PAPER SUGGESTS A THEORETICAL DEPENDENCE FOR THEDETERMINATION OF THE KAPITZA HEAT RESISTANCE ON A STAINLESS STEEL SURFACE.
