Summary
In this paper, a -68℃ low-temperature freezer based on Joule-Thomson cycle is developed by using the natural binary mixed refrigerant R1150/R600. The experiment demonstrates the feasibility of using R1150/R600 freezer to obtain lowtemperature refrigeration below -68℃. The effects of mass fraction ratio, refrigerant charge and ambient temperature on the dynamic operating characteristics of the freezer during on-off and cool-down performance are discussed in detail. It is shown that 160g is the optimal refrigerant charge. Additionally, the concentration of the mixed refrigerant has a significant effect on the cool-down performance of the freezer. When the concentration of R1150 is 32.5%, the lowest freezing temperature can be achieved, but its daily power consumption is not the lowest. When the concentration of R1150 is 27.5%, it meets the cool-down requirements and has the lowest daily energy consumption of 5.94 kWh/24h.
