Summary

The paper deals with condensation of strongly superheated vapour in circular channel. This problem is important especially for the superheating recovery heat exchangers in many refrigeration systems operating with fluids of high discharge temperatures, e.g. ammonia, propane and other fluids. The non-condensation ozone can be formed under conditions of high-level superheating at the entrance to the channel making unfavourable heat transfer conditions. The physical condition for the emanating of the non-condensing zone was discussed in the paper. The testing rig for investigation of condensation of superheated vapour was presented. The experimental results in terms of heat transfer coefficients for condensation of saturated vapour and superheated have been presented for the cases of condensing of vapour of refrigerant R507 and isobutane. The non-condensing zone was investigated by means of visualization of condensation process and thermal measurements showing reasonably god agreement with theoretical predictions.
