Experimental parameter investigation of R744 ejector.

Summary

This paper presents results of experimental investigation on the oil-free R744 ejector test facility devised and manufactured at SINTEF Energy Research. The main focus of the performed research was examination of the key geometrical parameters influence on the ejector thermodynamic and hydraulic performance, mainly coefficient of performance improvement relative potential (ejector efficiency), mass entrainment ratio and suction pressure ratio. The investigation indicated the effect of the suction nozzle outlet cross section area on the ejector performance is moderate for higher values of the outlet area. However, for low values of the gap between the suction nozzle and the mixing chamber (and consequently low values of the suction nozzle outlet area) a rapid decrease in the ejector efficiency and suction pressure ratio was observed. For the motive mass flow rate equal to 2 kg/min. and motive stream temperature equal to 35ºC the maximum registered values of the ejector efficiency reached 0.26 whereas the maximum values of the entrainment ratio and suction pressure ratio exceeded 1.1.
