Experimental study of the heat and mass transfer for ammonia evaporative condensers.

Author(s) : ILIE A., CHIRIAC F., IOSIFESCU C., et al.

Summary

Calculations were made to determine: the evaporative condenser's heat transfer rate under various operating conditions; the heat transfer coefficient on the water side; the mass transfer coefficient. The evolution of the following parameters along the condenser's height was also studied: air dry-bulb temperature; air wet-bulb temperature; air humidity ratio; water temperature. In order to ensure a steady-state operating regime, the evaporative condenser was placed inside an air channel, with multiple regulating and control possibilities. Experiments were carried out for saturated ammonia vapour, generated in an auxiliary installation using electrical heat input.
