Summary
The authors were able to create a favourable indoor thermal environment by means of ceiling pipe cooling using deep seawater at approximately 12 deg C, which is rather high. During daytime, when cooling load is high, the data obtained (from the experiments) indicates an energy saving on the order of 40% compared with an electrical air conditioner. The heat transfer mechanism of the cooling apparatus used in the experiments consisted of convectional (60%), radiative (20%), dehumidifying (10%), and heat loss elements.
