Summary

THE REPLETION LEVEL, FEEDING FREQUENCY AND MAXIMUM FOOD CONSUMPTION PER MEAL WERE DETERMINED FOR ATLANTIC COD (GADUS MORHUA) FED WITH SHRIMPS (PANDALUS MONTAGUI), AT 274, 277 AND 281 K (1, 4 AND 8 DEG C). IT HAS BEEN OBSERVED THAT REDUCED FOOD CONSUMPTION AT LOW TEMPERATURES IS RELATED TO FEEDING FREQUENCY RATHER THAN REDUCED CONSUMPTION. ON AN AVERAGE, COD EAT FOR 87, 77 AND 54 % OF THE DAY AT 281, 277 AND 274 K, RESPECTIVELY. THE QUANTITY OF FOOD EATEN PER MEAL DEPENDS ON THE SIZE OF THE FISH, NOT ON TEMPERATURE.
