Film evaporation of a liquid film falling around a smooth horizontal tube.

Summary

Results are presented for an experimental investigation of the evaporation heat and mass transfer characteristics of a thin water film flowing over a 22 millimeter diameter smooth, heated, horizontal brass tube. Data were obtained for non-boiling conditions and evaporation at the liquid-air interface is considered to be the governing mass transfer phenomenon. Finally, the present single-tube data are compared with the large-bundle data of an evaporator used for water desalination in the Aero-Evao-Condensation process.
