Filmwise condensation of R134a and R23/R134a mixture on horizontal finned tubes. Influence of fin spacing.

Summary

The condensation of a pure fluid (R134a) and of a zeotropic mixture (R134a/R23) outside a horizontal bundle of finned tubes have been studied to understand the behaviour of the new refrigerants. Experimental results with pure R134a and several compositions of mixture R134a/R23 have been obtained during condensation on a bundle equipped with finned tubes of three different types: K26 (1024-fpm), K19 (748-fpm), K11 (433-fpm). The experimental data show the important effect of fin spacing and the reduced impact of inundation effect on thermal performance.
