Flat-tube heat exchangers for indirectly cooled display cabinets: theory and experiments.

Summary

Heat transfer and pressure drop have been evaluated experimentally on the tube side of three different multiport extruded tubes with different cross-section geometry in order to find out which correlations and relations should be used when predicting the performance of heat exchangers consisting of such tubes. By using the experimental results for the tube side and correlations and relations from the literature for the airside, a model for heat exchangers has been established. This model has been used in a parameter study, which resulted in proposals of energy efficient heat exchanger designs suitable for display cabinets cooled by a liquid secondary refrigerant.
