Flow boiling heat transfer of ammonia and ammonia-oil mixtures.

Author(s) : BUHR H. J. de, KABELAC S.

Summary

The paper will address the problem of predicting the flow-boiling heat transfer coefficient and the pressure drop of ammonia-oil mixtures in enhanced aluminium tubing suitable for small-scale refrigeration equipment. The influence of oil on flow-boiling heat transfer will be discussed. The problem of using commonly cited flow pattern maps and pressure drop correlations in non-adiabatic situations is addressed as well as the influence of constant heat-flux boundary condition instead of constant-wall-temperature condition found in technical applications. A laboratory setup will be presented.
