Summary
THE FLUID FLOW LOSSES ARE DEFINED AS THE ENERGY THAT RESULTS DUE TO FRICTIONAL STRESSES. IT IS POSSIBLE TO CALCULATE FLUID FLOW EFFICIENCIES. THE CHANGE OF STATE CAN BE APPROXIMATED TO A POLYTROPIC CHANGE. THIS POLYTROPIC CHANGE OF STATE OF IDEAL FLUIDS CAN EASILY BE EVALUATED WITH THE HELP OF ANALYTICAL EQUATIONS ; FOR REAL FLUIDS THE CALCULATIONS CAN ONLY BE DONE WITH NUMERICAL METHODS. DURING THE POLYTROPIC CHANGE OF STATE THE DISSIPATED POLYTROPIC WORK CAN BE CALCULATED AND CAN FURTHER BE USED TO FIND OUT THE APPROPRIATE POLYTROPIC EFFICIENCY. FOR THE VARIOUS FLUID FLOW THE RECOMMENDED VALUES FOR THE EFFICIENCIES ARE TABULATED. A FEW EXAMPLES ARE GIVEN AND THE CALCULATIONS ARE PRESENTED.
