Summary

Law concerning the recovery and destruction of fluorocarbons was promulgated in June 2001. This law aims to limit emissions of fluorocarbons into the atmosphere by providing regulations for recovery and destruction of refrigerants contained in specified equipment (Class 1 and Class 2). "Fluorocarbons" means not only CFCs and HCFCs but also HFCs. "Class-1" covers commercial air conditioners and refrigeration, and "Class-2" covers mobile air conditioners. This law entered into force on April 2002 for Class-1, and October 2002 for Class-2 equipment.
