IN THIS PROCESS, THE ITEM TO BE GROUND IS FROZEN TO 173 K (-100 DEG C) OR LOWER. THE PROCESS IS LIMITED TO MATERIALS THAT ARE BRITTLE AT LOW TEMPERATURES. THE MATERIALS THAT CAN BE FREEZE-GROUND AT PRESENTARE RESINS, CHEMICAL PRODUCTS AND CERTAIN FOODSTUFFS. FURTHER RESEARCH WORK IS BEING UNDERTAKEN TO FREEZE-GRIND METALS AND CERAMICS WHICH, AT THE MOMENT, ARE CAUSING PROBLEMS IN FOULING UP THE GRINDING MACHINERY.
