Summary
This article is about the study and development of a low-volume high-efficiency freezers family based on a single-stage Joule-Thompson throttle cycle with gas mixtures as a coolant. Selection criteria for the qualitative composition of mixtures, the calculating results of the mixtures quantitative compositions, and experimental studies results of a throttle cycle for various mixture compositions are presented in the paper. Hydraulic diagrams of freezers are shown for temperature ranges of -90 ... -100 ºC and -130 ... -150 ºC. Their differences and features are considered. The key factors of influence on the freezer’s operations efficiency and reliability have been spotted out and studied. The ways of optimisation of key factors impact for the development of industrial designs are presented. The main technical characteristics of the newly developed freezers are presented. The freezers are cost-effective, energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, and highly reliable.
