Freezing in an annular channel of double pipe heat exchanger.

Summary

The paper deals with the freezing of water flowing through an annular channel of vertical double pipe heat exchanger. The transient ice growing process was studied experimentally and analytically. The freezing process was affected by experimental conditions such as temperature and flow rate of brine flowing through an inner circular tube. The growth of the ice layer and the resultant decrease of water flow rate were observed, measured and compared with those predicted by theoretical analysis with good agreement.
