Frost formation and demand defrost of display cabinet evaporators.

Author(s) : TASSOU S. A., DATTA D.

Summary

The paper reports on experimental investigations carried out to characterise the process of frost formation on the evaporator coils of refrigerated display cabinets and identify critical control parameters for optimum defrost initiation and termination. Parameters investigated include the ambient temperature and relative humidity, the duration of the previous defrost cycle and the divergence between the air temperature at two positions in the back flow tunnel.
