Data are presented on: 1) the costs of apple and pear storage for 6 months in ordinary cold storage, ventilated controlled-atmosphere storage and controlled-atmosphere storage with various modifications; 2) monthly changes in the quality of Jonagold apples in ordinary cold storage, controlled-atmosphere storage and ultra-low-oxygen storage; 3) the usual storage conditions for Jonagold apples in Belgium and 7 other countries; and 4) a simplified model of ethylene metabolism in apples.
