Summary

Apricots were stored for 4, 5 or 6 weeks, nectarines for 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 weeks, and thereafter the fruits were held at 10 deg C for 3 or 7 days to simulate shelf life. None of the treatments successfully extended the storage life of apricots beyond the traditional 3 weeks. Decay development was inhibited by the high CO2 treatments with Super Gold and Imperial. In contrast, nectarines could be stored satisfactorily for 5-8 weeks and thereafter had a shelf life of at least 7 days. Those given treatment gave the best results. Olympia stored less well than the other cultivars.
