Fundamental studies on absorption air-cooling unit using ammonium bromide-ammonia and ammonium iodide-ammonia systems.

Summary

The reversible ammoniation of ammonium salts were provided for an absorption air-cooling unit. Liquid ammonia was used as refrigerant, and ammonium salts (ammonium bromide and ammonium iodide) were used as absorbent. In the study, an absorption air-cooling model was designed, and the prototypical units with batch type and self-circulation type were examined. Some performance tests were carried out. COP observed data defined as the ratio of heat flow rate evaporator to heat flow rate generator was calculated under the fixed experimental conditions. Furthermore, the COP estimated value of these models are calculated from the enthalpy-concentration chart. The values of COP estimated values and COP observed data for the ammonium bromide-ammonia system always showed higher values than those of the ammonium iodide-ammonia system under the same operating conditions.
