Summary

Nectarines cv. sunred were picked at the beginning of maturation, precooled at 4 °C for 12 hours, and treated with gamma radiation at 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8 kGy. The fruits were then stored at 0 °C and 90-95% RH for 28 days. Appearance, fresh mass loss, pulp firmness, titratable acidity, total soluble solids and their ratio were assessed at 7-day intervals. After 28 days, it was found that fruit treated with 0.4 kGy gamma radiation had the best appearance, least loss of fresh mass and greatest pulp firmness.
