Summary
The global quick-frozen strawberry industry has been dominated by two producers for many years: Poland and the US. These two countries produced 288,000 tonnes of quick-frozen strawberries in 1997. Global exports remain at a level of around 220,000 tonnes, with the exception of 1994. World imports of quick-frozen strawberries have reached a record level of 91,000 tonnes. North America produces 90% of all cranberries produced worldwide. North-American production is focused on cultivated and wild blueberries. 76,840 tonnes of cultivated blueberries and 65,770 tonnes of wild blueberries (this being an increase of 13% with respect to 1996) were produced in 1997.
