GROWTH OF 4 STRAINS OF YERSINIA ENTEROCOLITICA (R1291B, R43B, R362B AND ATCC9610) IN A SIMULATED MILK MEDIUM AT 275 K (2 DEG C) WAS MONITORED OVER A 4 DAY PERIOD USING BOTH SELECTIVE AND NON SELECTIVE MEDIA. STRAIN ATCC9610 WAS FOUND TO GROW AT A SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER RATE THAN THE STRAINS OF MILK ORIGIN. ALL 4 STRAINS GREW AT 275 K WITH R1291B HAVING A RAPID GROWTH RATE (GENERATION TIME OF 4 HR) OVER A 24 HOUR PERIOD. G.R.S.
