HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER IN VAPOUR AND LIQUID PHASES OF A AMMONIA-WATER REGENERATOR.

Summary

A MODEL WAS DEVELOPED DESCRIBING SIMULTANEOUS HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER. IT DESCRIBES VAPOUR GENERATION FROM LIQUID H2 O/NH3 IE NH3 AND H2 O DIFFUSION AND CONVECTION IN BOTH PHASES. THE CALCULATIONS SHOW THE POSSIBLE TRANSFER OF THESE FLUIDS ACCORDING TO THEIR CONCENTRATION GRADIENTS. IN ADDITION, THE DIFFUSION OF ONE COMPONENT HAS ONLY A LIGHT EFFECT ON THE OVERALL TRANSFER OF THIS COMPONENT IF CONCENTRATION IS HIGHER THAN 98%. IN THE TYPICAL CASE OF CONVECTION THERE IS A NEGLIGIBLE RESISTANCE TO THE DIFFUSION OF MATTER.
