Summary

THE RATE OF HEAT EXCHANGE THROUGH AN ABSORPTION PROCESS IS A FUNCTION OF THE BASIC HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER PROCESSES. THE AUTHOR SET UP AN EXPERIMENTAL WETTED COLUMN ABSORBER TO INVESTIGATE THE EFFECT OF THE WORKING FLUID FLOW RATE IN A WATER/LITHIUM BROMIDE ABSORPTION SYSTEM ON THE LIQUID PHASE MASS TRANSFERCOEFFICIENT AND THE EVAPORATION TEMPERATURE. THE RESULTS SHOW THAT AN INCREASE IN FLOW RATE OF THE AQUEOUS LITHIUM BROMIDE SOLUTION ENTERING THE ABSORBER INCREASES THE LIQUID PHASE MASS TRANSFER COEFFICIENT, THE EVAPORATION TEMPERATURE AND COOLING CAPACITY.
