Heat-operated heat pumps.
Author(s) : STEIMLE F.
Summary
The efficiency from primary to electricity delivered to a building is about 32%. That means the COP of the heat pump must be at least 3. The development can be divided into two branches, the engine driven compression heat pump and the absorption heat pump. Absorption heat pumps can be direct fired or energized with high temperature waste heat. An example for the last system is the combination with cogeneration plants, where the cooling energy of the engine is going to heat the generator of the heat pump. For this type of heat pumps different working couples are available and can be discussed.
