Heat pumps for dehumidification and drying processes in residential and commercial applications: hot air drying heat pump using a transcritical CO2 process.

Summary

This document describes studies performed in collaboration by the Univeristy of Graz (Austria), the University of Louvain (Belgium), SINTEF (Norway) and the Heat Pump Research Centre in Hanover (Germany). These studies focused on a prototype CO2 heat pump and its application in product drying. Classic air heating using the condenser (in this case the gas chiller) and cooling of this air, with condensation of water vapour, is applied. The performances achieved with CO2 and with a similar cycle using R134a, are compared.
