Heat transfer and temperature control for gas water heater with top water inlet.

Number: pap. ID: 803

Author(s) : QIU B., ZHANG X.

Summary

The flowing of water in the storage tank of gas water heater is commonly conducted with buoyancy caused by density difference of hot and cold water and jet momentum together. The steady and unsteady mixing process of a new storage water heater with a top water inlet and a bottom water inlet is simulated in the paper. Temperature of outflow, heat efficiency and peak temperature is important performace parameters of water heater design. To achieve the best performace, different flux of two inlets and different top inlet angles is studied in the paper. The result shows that the best compromise of heat efficiency and outflow temperature stability achieved when top water inflow ratio of total water inflow is 0.25. Symmetrical inlet and outlet set is better than unsymmetrical one.
