Heat treatment to cooling towers.
Author(s) : WEST S.
Type of article: Article
Summary
Tests have been carried out to kill Legionella bacteria by sterilization. Cooling tower water was periodically heated to 70 deg C, and further tests at 85 and 100 deg C are planned. Larger tank heaters are required. The method is easy to monitor. These alternative methods of bacteria control need to be considered by public health authorities. A.R.T.
