Summary
Within the framework of an European research programme focused on the development of combined absorption-compression installations for high-temperature heat pumps, this article above all handles compressor and lubricant selection where water-ammonia is the refrigerant used. It also describes laboratory research on the behaviour (above all the miscibility) of various types of oil for reciprocating compressors and screw compressors where ammonia is used.
