Author(s) : MCDONALD B., WILKS B.
Type of article: Periodical article
Summary
Seven cool stores in New Zealand were surveyed for cooling rates of kiwifruit and results are detailed. Conventional stores with air velocities of 0.1 to 0.5 m/s between pallet rows had half cooling times of 2 to 10 days. Further details of fruit temperatures in cold stores during the season and subsequent transport to Europe are given. Performance specifications are being prepared to optimize fruit temperatures.
