Ice-slurry production with a fluidised bed heat exchanger.

Summary

Two types of fluidized bed ice generator are discussed, one with recirculation of steel or glass particles and one without. The particles of the fluidized bed continuously scrape the iced wall, thus forming the ice slurry. The experimental results of a fluidized bed ice generator without recirculation are presented. The heat transfer obtained in this relatively simple experimental set-up is promising. With particle recirculation, the performance is expected to increase because of a higher possible fluidization velocity.
