Summary
The typical ice storage system is used to reduce utility costs or shift electrical power use to an off-peak period. The application discussed uses ice storage as a type of cooling "uninterrupted power supply" system. It provides a method to maintain cooling flow immediately upon the loss of normal building cooling.
