Summary

THE AA. PRESENT A STUDY ON 12 PATIENTS SUBJECTED TO HEAVY CHEMIOTHERAPY, FOLLOWED FOR 9 OF THEM, BY THE REINJECTION OF FROZEN AUTOLOGOUS MARROW, STORED IN GASEOUS NITROGEN, AT A TEMPERATURE NEAR 233 K (-140 DEG C), FOR TIMES RANGING FROM 15 DAYS TO 18 MONTHS (SEE ABSTRACT 81-0330). THE RESULTS REPORTED AND DESCRIBED IN DETAIL SUGGEST THAT, ALTHOUGH THE MINIMUM DOSE FOR AUTOGRAFT IN MAN IS NEAR 50 MILLION NUCLEATED CELLS/KG, HIGHER DOSES ARE DESIRABLE IN ORDER TO PROVIDE BETTER IMMUNITY RECOVERY.
