Summary

THE RESULTS SHOW THAT THE LOSSES OF GRAPES PACKED IN 5-KG WOODEN BOXES ARE, AFTER 120 DAYS, LOWER BY 1 TO 3.4% THAN WITH OTHER TYPES OF PACKAGING. PALETTISATION TO 5.6 M HEIGHT PROVIDES A SATISFACTORY LOADING OF THE COLD ROOM AND A DECREASE IN LOSSES. ABOUT 2% DECREASE IN LOSSES WAS OBSERVED FOR GRAPES STORED WITHIN 4 HRS AFTER HARVESTING, COMPARED TO THOSE STORED AFTER 24 HRS. SMALL ROOMS (150 T) GIVE THE BEST RESULTS AND AT THE SAME TIME THE POSSIBILITY OF OBTAINING GOOD STORAGE CONDITIONS.
