In-tube evaporation heat transfer or refrigerant mixtures.

Author(s) : DOERR T. M., PATE M. B.

Summary

Heat transfer coefficient data was taken during in-tube evaporation of five different refrigerant mixtures. These measurements were performed in a 9.7 mm outside-diameter smooth copper tube at refrigerant temperatures of -2 and 4 deg C. Four different mass fluxes ranging from 125 to 375 kg/s.m2 were tested. On a mass basis, the five different mixtures tested were: R125 (40%)-R32 (60%); R32 (30%)-R125 (10%)-R134a (60%); R134a (90%)-R32 (10%); R125 (44%)-R143a (52%)-R134a (4%), and R134a (75%)-R32 (25%). The evaporative heat transfer coefficients for the mixtures were also compared to data for R22. Results are given.
