GRANULOCYTES WERE ISOLATED FROM WHOLE BLOOD OF GUINEA PIGS BY COUNTERFLOW CENTRIFUGATION AND LABELED. ONE HALF WAS CRYOGENICALLY PRESERVED WITH 5% DIMETHYL SULFOXIDE (DMSO), 6% HYDROXYETHYL STARCH (HES), AND 4% HUMAN ALBUMIN, AT A RATE OF 4 K (4 C) PER MINUTE BY STORAGE AT 193 K (-80 DEG C) AND THEN STORED FOR 3 DAYS AT 193 K. THE FROZEN -THAWED -WASHED -RESUSPENDED LABELED GRANULOCYTES WERE USED FOR EXPERIMENTS ON LABORATORY ANIMALS.
