Summary
This article shows that given new energy, political and environmental data, heat recovery by industrial heat pumps becomes attractive. It analyses the economic CO2 balance of a heat pump placed in substitution of a boiler. Then, based on market research, it defines the directions and the leading axes to be followed in research on industrial heat pumps, while emphasizing the technical obstacles that must still be overcome.
